In its 15th year, LGBT History Month 2019 is one of the most important events in the LGBT+ calendar. The overall aim of this initiative is to promote equality and diversity for the benefit of the public. In particular, LGBT History Month focuses on increasing the visibility of LGBT+ people. Too often their history, lives and experiences are lost in the curriculum and culture of educational and other institutions, as well as the wider community.

To address these ongoing issues, LGBT History Month identifies a new theme every year which contributes to highlighting different aspects of the wealth LGBT history brings to our communities. This year’s theme Peace, Activism and Reconciliation. In celebration of this, every week for the entire month of February we’ll be posting one inspirational biography of a LGBT+ change-maker featuring their unique contribution to the equal rights movement.
